Exposing Utopia

Instead
Cry instead
I cry instead
Sometimes I cry instead
Sometimes I feel like crying
Sometimes I feel like crying so
Sometimes I feel like crying so I
Sometimes I feel like crying so I hate
Sometimes I feel like crying so I hate instead.
Sometimes I feel like hating so I cry instead.
In this Theatre of the Absurd ~
Wearing my white robe like a mystery play ~
Little Dixie hangs in the air like heat ~
A clanging wagon rolls into Ferguson ~
Chains dangle ~
Big House at the bustling hemp and cotton plantations ~
Seeds of the Civil War germinate ~
Human cargo brought up from the deep south ~
Captives cross the vast ocean ~
Every shift I struggle for minimum wage ~
Swimming as fast as I can, barely afloat ~
Buying Christmas gifts at the dollar store ~
The mall feels like some kind of science fiction movie ~
Taking place inside a wooden ship ~
Who does the captain work for ~
Did Big House ever fill my pockets ~
Seeds within my civil war germinate ~
Do I hate ~
Do I cry ~
Do I expose utopia ~
I found the Klan image on Wikipedia ~ I do not claim copyright for the original photograph ~ I am recomposing original images using it under non-commercial fair use provisions for purposes of commentary or parody.
Another powerful and thought-provoking post. Thank you for providing the Little Dixie link. It strengthens the message and deepens the emotional impact.
Thank you very much for spending time with this work and your feedback. Isn’t that Little Dixie page like a tapestry of its time come to life. Maybe even a hemp & cotton tapestry.
Intolerance fuels the hatred until it becomes a flame that never goes out.
So true. We need more clouds that put out flames while connecting the dots. ‘cloudlines’ I guess.
Strong visual and text.
Sad for those who suffered.
Yes. On and on. Like molasses. thank you for your response.
Fascinating, powerful images and text. We have a similar problem over here; there is a political party that represents these kind of sentiments and it’s gone mainstream.
It’s quite phenomenal how we seem to be able to go backwards at the same time as forward. I’m not quite sure who is designing this car.
