A New Painting
by Steven McCabe
I was tempted to leave this as a rougher, more expressive work.
Started this painting in 2020. It stayed on the easel while I worked my big roll of paper.
I saw it every day. Finished it a few days after completing Druidica.
Size: 40″ X 40.” Acrylic on canvas. Title: Annunciation.
After working in mostly blues for three or four years it feels good to
work with colour again.

Wow! Amazing painting! Steven thank’s for share.
Have a wonderful time!

I’m not familiar with your body of work, but I say ‘bravo’ to working through this one. Very nice. Guess I need color right now, too.
Thank you Donna. Thank you for your visit and comment. Yes, go for the colour! All best from here.
What a palpable mystery of art! Perhaps because it’s called ‘Annunciation’ I’m instantly drawn to the shape that appears to be a baby in a womb, and the blue figure pantomiming cradling a newborn – like a church fresco from another dimension. The labyrinth in the corner, another old religious motif, accentuates my feeling. I think it’s a success!
Hi Tiege, Good to hear from you and thank you for your impressions. ‘Palpable mystery of art…’ What a great phrase. ‘Church fresco from another dimension….’ This opens my eyes to a lot of possible interpretations, all rich. Your observations, and descriptions, are always welcomed. All best from here!
