I Went Down to the Mall
by Steven McCabe
I went down to the mall.

They said they wanted somebody who spoke an extinct language.

They asked me which one I spoke.

I said I forgot.

They said that’s okay.

We might have something for you anyway.

They asked me if I was familiar

with the concept

of reincarnation.

Wow. This is a very cool concept and the images are great. I’ve been trying to make a comment on your site but my computer will no longer let me comment. When I fill in the info it asks for, it rejects me passwords. Sorry about that. This has been happening for over a year now. I didn’t realize I could respond by email. I get it now, and will do that from now on. Hope all is well. All’s well here. Jeanie

Hi Jeanie, Thank you very much. I’m glad you like this. I have similar problems with leaving comments but unlike you I haven’t mastered the solution yet. If I see your postings in ‘Reader’ I can ‘like’ them but not if I go to your blog (which I do). Odd little glitches. Fortunately with modest consequences. ‘I Went Down to the Mall’ occurred to me lickety-split, after working on something else that was complex and time-consuming, and then I found a Photoshop file with everything I needed image-wise to work with. Very nice to hear from you. I’m glad all is well.
Hi Steven. You paint such colourful pictures. I find it interesting that the human figure here remains the same indistinct shade of brown until you admit your loss of a forgotten language and perhaps momentarily, see your true colours, luminous, almost transparent as you face the angelic figure and see a world that is more vivd and real than our human eyes can perceive.
Hi Teri, Thank you. This is a fascinating bit of art detective work you have done! Fantastic and wonderful to see it this way. You’ve worked in a number of layers at play. I read it earlier in transit and because I rarely use the phone have reread it more than once on my desktop. Wow. Very very insightful! 🙂 Thank you again for this way of ‘seeing.’
