Salome’s Veil by Steven McCabe
by Steven McCabe
She is the handmaiden of flammable dreams
Bending her arm like a man hammering underwater —
Wearing thin bracelets —
On her back in the mouth of a cave
I limp into her beautiful danger
She is walking backwards to join me
A wild ocean carved by the wind
My heels touch blacktop
I push the car
Removing layers of thought
Blinded by love
