I was ‘barely old.’
by Steven McCabe
In 2015, when I did this drawing, I was ‘barely old.‘
Leonard Cohen already said the more poetic ‘almost young.’
LIttle did I know; ten years later I would have the energy to complete
my most ambitious project:
Part One (of the diptych) discussed here.
Part Two (of the diptych) discussed here.
I hope to complete my 5′ X 70′ diptych in December, January, February?
Getting close to completion but I think I’ll go offline for a while.
I am moving slowly.
After completing the visual art I will develop a fuller rationale for the work.
I will write about inspiration, process, and purpose.
And decide on a final name for the diptych.
Then look at the poetic scraps I jotted down, as they sounded to me, during the
drawing & painting.

Beautiful work part 1 part 2 both. Well shared
Thank you for checking it out & your thoughts Priti. 🙂

Nice to see your work again. Finally found my way back
Almost a year later I’m catching up with you Steven. Boy, you’ve been busy! I have always been fascinated by your wizardry with the digital, but I really love this intricate surrender in your drawing. Some people are blessed with wonderful inner worlds. You seem to inhabit inner galaxies. I look forward to exploring more.
Hi Jana,
Nice to hear from you! Long time no see! I’ve been offsite for a while now and hope to return soon. Thank you for your generous words. I checked out your Instagram page
and your art is something to behold. Beautiful work!
Thanks Steven… I’ve been out of touch with WP for years, but kept my site active. And people wandered over from IG, which continues to surprise me. I’m glad I did though, because I frankly miss the depth of connection here.
It’s going to take awhile to figure out how to navigate the complexity of the new editor, as I’ll probably only be using a fraction of it. But hey! I love a puzzle.
It’s good to catch up with you!
